Updated Calder Cup Playoff Schedules

Please find below the updated schedules for the first round of the American Hockey League’s 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs, replacing TBA’s for Albany/Philadelphia (Game 6), Toronto/San Antonio (Games 3-7) and Rockford/Houston (Games 3-5), and updating the start time for Chicago/Milwaukee (Game 3):

PENS OPEN PLAYOFFS WITH OT WIN AGAINST HERSHEY

HERSHEY, PA – The playoffs are a time to suck it up, step up and perform. And Chris Minard stuck to that formula perfectly on Wednesday night.

The Penguins’ leading goal scorer during the regular season, Minard blasted a puck past goaltender Frederic Cassivi 4:52 into overtime to lead the Penguins to a 2-1 win against the Hershey Bears in Game One of the East Division Semifinals at the Giant Center. Games Two and Three take place in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday and Sunday.

Phantoms Announce Game Information For Game Six Of East Division Semifinals

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Phantoms announced today that Game 6 of the East Division Semifinals series against the Albany River Rats has been scheduled for Saturday, April 26. The game will start at 7:05 PM and will be played at the Wachovia Center.

Albany leads the series 1-0 heading into Friday night’s Game 2 at the Wachovia Center, which will host all first round Phantoms home games while the Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus performs at the Wachovia Spectrum through April 27. Game 3 is on Sunday afternoon at 5:05 at the Wachovia Center, after which the series will return to Albany for Games 4 and 5 next week.

Luca Caputi Joins Penguins

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed left wing Luca Caputi to an amateur professional contract, it was announced on Thursday.

Caputi, 19, recently completed his junior season with the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League. The 6-3, 185 pound native of Toronto finished fourth in the OHL with 111 points and third with 51 goals. He also added 17 points (8+9) in 10 postseason games with the IceDogs.

For his career, Caputi recorded 185 points (86+99) in 214 games. He was selected by Pittsburgh in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Marlies Announce Dates For Series Against San Antonio

A proud member of the American Hockey League, the Toronto Marlies today announced the schedule for games 3-7 of their Division Semifinal against the San Antonio Rampage. The Marlies won Game 1 of their best-of-seven series, 4-3 on Wednesday night against the Rampage.

The following are the confirmed dates, along with locations, and times for the first-round series between the Marlies and Rampage (all times eastern):

Game 1 – Wednesday, April 16: San Antonio Rampage at Toronto Marlies 7:30 p.m. (Ricoh Coliseum)

Crunch Announce Details Of Zenon Konopka Autographed Card Giveaway Presented By Quickway

Rampage Announce Remaining Playoff Dates

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Rampage, in conjunction with the American Hockey League (AHL), today announced the remaining dates for the first round of the 2008 Calder Cup Playoff series between the Toronto Marlies (#1 seed) and Rampage (#4 seed).

The best-of-seven series follows a 2-3-2 format. Toronto leads the North Division Semifinal series 1-0 with Game 2 Friday, April 18 at Ricoh Coliseum.

The Rampage will host a Game 2 watch party at Fatso’s Sports Garden, located at 15630 Henderson Pass, Friday at 6:30 p.m. The party will feature door prizes, food and drink specials, and hard hitting playoff action, marking this event one you won’t want to miss.
